About me
Hi, I’m Verlon, a photographer based in Austin, Texas: a land of bright stars, picturesque landscapes, and where the old abandoned house at the end of the road is definitely haunted.
If you’ll pardon the play on words, I’ve always been drawn to imagery — from sketches and storybooks to movies and mythologies. Photography became a way of telling stories more vividly than I could ever draw them. Its doesn’t matter if it’s a misty landscape that hints at dragons, a city street that looks one lens flare away from a sci-fi epic, or a long-exposure light painting that bringpure imagination to life, I’m always chasing the same thing: a world more interesting than the one we live in. It doesn’t have to be fantasy, but I would like to show the most amazing version of the world I see.
You’ll usually find me shooting cinematic or fantasy-inspired images, light painting in the dark, or getting lost in landscapes and astrophotography. I like photography that sparks curiosity — something that spins an epic tale, or at least makes you wonder what on earth is going on here?
While I don’t do this full time (there’s a reason I have a day job: weddings and cookie-cutter headshots just aren’t my thing), I do occasionally take on paid projects. If you’ve got a creative concept and think we might be a good match, let’s talk. I’m always open to collaborations that align with my style and interests.
I’m also a member of the North Austin Photographic Society and have had work exhibited at various locations around the area. When I’m not behind the camera, I’m usually reading, watching movies, tinkering with 3D modeling or printing custom props for shoots, but it all leads me to just imagining what that shadow in the distance could be.
